"Historical Note: In 1923 action was brought against George Grosz and ECCE HOMO. This was based on a law that had not been evoked in centuries. The charge: defaming public morals, corrupting the inborn sense of shame and virtue innate in the German people. Grosz and ECCE HOMO were found guilty.
