Following the passage in Brazil of Institutional Act n. 5 (AI-5) eighty percent of invited artists refused to participate. It was nicknamed the "Boycott Bienal. "Text by Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho, Herbert Pée, and many others. Participating artists included Josef Albers, Horst Antes, Iaian Baxter, Henri Matisse, Sonia Delaunay, and more than 400 others. Condition: Good. Moderate wear to covers including folding across the height of the verso, rubbing of cover edges, 6 mm. and 5 mm. tears to spine edge and rippling along spine with light foxing. The first 14 pages of the catalogue have been sewn in upside down. Discoloration from glue along spine edge of first interior page and 1 cm. tear to page. 6 mm. dog-ears to the corners of pages 87-90. Contents otherwise clean and unmarked.
