Large-scale quasi-catalogue raisonné of drawing and prints by Claes Oldenburg executed between 1958 - 1967. Contains introduction and commentary by Gene Baro, chronology, and raisonné for drawings and prints. While, in fact, this book purports to be a raisonné, and goes to great lengths to document Oldenburg's drawings, it lacks documentation of a large number of drawings executed within the period. However, this book is an extremely valuable document in that it lavishly reproduces a large number of the artist's works and indexes 369 drawings and 9 editioned prints. "The first printing of this book was completed September 1, 1969, at Imprimeries Réunies s.a., Lausanne, Switzerland. It consists of a limited edition of 126 copies printed on J.A. Dessin paper with an original etching by Claes Oldenburg [in fact the print was a lithograph, not a etching], 26 signed and numbered A to Z, for commerce and 100 copies signed and numbered 1 to 100, published by Editions I.R.L.; and 7500 copies on wood-free offset paper, published by Chelsea House Publishers (London) Limited." -- from book's colophon.
