The Charles H. Scott Gallery is pleased to present the work of legendary New York conceptual artist Dan Graham. Vintage Dan Graham: Projects for Publication 1966-2009 presents both artwork specifically created by Graham for periodicals and other publications and Graham's own writings on sex, drugs, rock-n-roll, art, and architecture first seen in print between 1966 and 2009.
Dan Graham produces artworks and theoretical texts that investigate cultural ideologies and systems. His interests range from suburbia and public architecture to punk music and popular culture. He is one of the most influential artists working today and his practice has had an impact on the work of many Vancouver.
Dan Graham has been exhibiting since the 1960s and has a vast international exhibition record, including participating four times in Documenta. His most recent retrospective Dan Graham: Beyond was at Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art and The Whitney Museum in New York in 2009.
David Platzker is the founding director of Specific Object, a New York gallery that concentrates on exhibiting artists’ publications, ephemera, prints, multiples and other editions as well as literature, music / audio works, and unique contemporary artworks. From 1998 through 2004 Platzker was the Executive Director of Printed Matter, Inc.
Both the artist and the curator will be in attendance for the opening.
